一、连词成句 Put the words in order

二、完成句子 Fill in the blank

yú zài yú gāng lǐ yóu lái yóu qù
The fish swim about in the fish tank.
💡 Fish swim inside the water of the tank, so it is 里 (in).
小狗躲在桌子下睡觉。
xiǎo gǒu duǒ zài zhuō zi xià shuì jiào
The puppy is hiding under the table, asleep.
💡 躲 means hiding, and the space under a table is where a puppy can hide: 桌子下. On top (上) is not hiding, and a table has no inside (里).
飞机在天上飞。
fēi jī zài tiān shàng fēi
The plane flies in the sky.
💡 In Chinese the sky is 天上 ("up in the sky"), not 天里.
我把衣服放进衣柜里。
wǒ bǎ yī fu fàng jìn yī guì lǐ
I put the clothes into the wardrobe.
💡 放进 means "put into", so it ends with 里 (inside).
我们看电视的时候，坐在电视前面。
wǒ men kàn diàn shì de shí hou zuò zài diàn shì qián miàn
When we watch TV, we sit in front of the TV.
💡 To see the screen you sit in front of it: 前面. Behind it (后面) or on top of it (上面) you can't watch.
我坐在妈妈的右边，她在我的左边。
wǒ zuò zài mā ma de yòu bian tā zài wǒ de zuǒ bian
I sit on Mum's right, and she is on my left.
💡 If Mum is on my left, then I am on her right: 右边.

💡 To get out of the rain, we go inside: 屋子里.
小明坐在我的前面，我看不见黑板。

Xiaoming sits in front of me, so I can't see the board.
💡 Someone in front of me (前面) blocks the board. Behind me (后面) or outside (外面) would not.
学校里有很多小朋友。

💡 The children are inside the school: 学校里.
我家在这座组屋的五楼。

💡 Floors are just numbered: 五楼. 个 and 只 are not used for floors.

三、改病句 Correct the sentence
病句：书在桌子。
shū zài zhuō zi
The book is on the table. (a missing 上)
改正：书在桌子上。
shū zài zhuō zi shàng
The book is on the table.
💡 After 在 + a thing, say where on it: 桌子上 (on the table).
病句：我在公园里玩在。
wǒ zài gōng yuán lǐ wán zài
I play in the park. (an extra 在 at the end)
改正：我在公园里玩。
wǒ zài gōng yuán lǐ wán
I play in the park.
💡 在 + the place comes once, before the action: 我在公园里玩.
病句：小狗在桌子下面里。
xiǎo gǒu zài zhuō zi xià miàn lǐ
The puppy is under the table. (two position words)
改正：小狗在桌子下面。
xiǎo gǒu zài zhuō zi xià miàn
The puppy is under the table.
💡 Use one position word: 下面 (under). 里 (inside) can't be added as well.
病句：公园在很多花。
gōng yuán zài hěn duō huā
There are many flowers in the park. (在 instead of 有)
改正：公园里有很多花。
gōng yuán lǐ yǒu hěn duō huā
There are many flowers in the park.
💡 To say there are things in a place, use 有: 公园里有很多花.
病句：我坐旁边妈妈。
wǒ zuò páng biān mā ma
I sit next to Mum. (旁边 in the wrong place)
改正：我坐在妈妈旁边。
wǒ zuò zài mā ma páng biān
I sit next to Mum.
💡 The position word comes after the person: 在妈妈旁边, not 旁边妈妈.
病句：鱼在水上游。
yú zài shuǐ shàng yóu
Fish swim in the water. (上 instead of 里)
改正：鱼在水里游。
yú zài shuǐ lǐ yóu
Fish swim in the water.
💡 Fish swim in the water: 水里. On top of the water (水上) is where boats go.
